The TwinCAT 3 OPC UA Nodeset Editor is a software for displaying, customizing, and creating the XML-based formal description files of OPC UA information models known as nodesets. When developing a machine, its OPC UA namespace may be subject to certain requirements specified by the customer or the industry as a whole. In these cases, it is necessary to establish conformity to a companion specification or a customer-specific information model so that the machine can be integrated into the existing and standardized environment as smoothly as possible. Even if this is not (yet) the case, it is still, to some extent, necessary to be able to create and use a user-defined namespace for OPC UA. The development of the machine program usually takes place independently of the OPC UA information model that conformity needs to be established with. This means that the objects associated with the machine program have to be linked to those of the OPC UA information model. This is where the Nodeset Editor comes into play as the graphic solution to these challenges. This software makes it possible to: load nodesets from companion specifications or customer-specific information models create simple, user-defined XML nodeset files easily link objects from the control with those of the loaded or created nodeset use the nodeset for new and existing machines in connection with the TwinCAT OPC UA server The Nodeset Editor can be equipped with more functions, e.g. automatic PLC code generation, via the additional TE6101 license.
